Kilim Description
This is an antique Caucasian sumak main rug that was woven during the end of the 19th century circa 1880 and measures 215 x 116 CM in size. Large sumak rugs were not woven in great numbers during this time period and this specific example Has an extremely long format with six alternating star medallions positioned along its center axis. It has three different types of typical geometric borders including the famous S design, a zig-zag mountain border, and a water wave border. This textile has been made using all-natural vegetable dyes and has been preserved in excellent condition making it highly desirable by collectors and designers alike.
