Rug Description

This is an antique Isfahan woven in central Persia circa 1900. It has an all over design with two columns and four repeating medallions in the column.  The border is made up of a floral design made to look like connecting vines. This creates a visual effect that makes the flowers in the border look as if they have a fluid movement. The two columns of repeating medallions also create a visual effect of having a central column of medallions made up by the outline of the two flanking columns. During this time period, Isfahan had a very small production of rug weaving making this a rare example. This Isfahan is in prime condition with no repairs or worn areas.
