Antique Caucasian Daghestan rug. 1880 ca. A rare antique Caucasian Dagestan carpet on an ivory background with an all-over design, medium format. In this magnificent example of a Dagestan carpet, we can appreciate the graceful chromatic liveliness that marks the modular development of the floral motifs that make up the background. Every detail is clearly placed offering a pleasant stage presence. The borders of this antique Caucasian Dagestan carpet are very elaborate and expertly distributed around the entire perimeter; the “S” motifs, the serrated edge and the pink rosette motifs on an amaranth red background set the design with great precision and chromatic definition. A carpet to collect for its type of design and rare background shade.
