Antique Caucasian Shirvan Chichi Rug XIX century. A colorful Shirvan Baku “chi-chi” carpet. The border with diagonal segments interspersed with stylized geometric rosettes is unmistakable. Various borders anticipate the full-field pattern of this magnificent specimen, alternating chromatic combinations and orientation of the designs in a surprising way. The all-over background is filled with a detailed, very defined and well-contrasted grid, making every single filling pattern stand out. The rather rare yellow color elegantly punctuates the profiles of the background grid and the border that precedes it. A harmony of colors and textures well distributed and proportioned across the entire surface of this antique Shirvan. The state of preservation is excellent.
