Rug Description
This is an antique Shirvan rug from the southern part of the Caucasus mountains and it was woven during the end of the 19th century. The field of this rug is decorated with repeating hooked medallions and its yellow and black borders create color contrast against its red-colored field. The black border has repeating hourglass motifs that are seldomly seen in Shirvan rugs and they make this rug different from the many other Shirvan rugs in the market. The rug has all-natural vegetable dyes and it is in great condition.
