Antique Caucasian Shirvan Rug, 1920 ca. A rather unusual shirvan carpet in its decorative graphic composition. This Shirvan carpet has a decidedly important background from the point of view of visual impact. The background is enclosed by three small borders, in contrast with each other: the two thinnest ones carry the carnation motif, the central one with an ivory background carries a stylization of the Hauzi motif, often used in Kurdish carpets also as a central medallion. the bottom of the midnight blue carpet collects small colorful medallions in alternating colors filled with rosette motifs in a grid. The profile of these small medallions echoes the decorative style of the Qarabagh and Zeiywa carpets. This ancient Shirvan carpet is very balanced in colors and contrasts, a real carpet knotted according to the Caucasian tradition. The state of conservation is very good.
