Rug Description

Antique Caucasian Shirvan Runner Rug, 1900-1920. A very pleasant rug in runner format of rather rare size. Caucasian carpets in the form of a guide, generally, have a more pronounced width. In this Cauciasian Shirvan carpet on a red background, six medallions with a serrated profile and a “concentric” design complete the background together with other contour elements typical of Shirvan manufacturing. Zoomorphic motifs accompany star motifs, medallions and rosettes. The main pink border in shades of salmon and pale pink is very light and well modulated. The “S” motifs are well distributed and balanced. This antique Caucasian Shirvan carpet from the early 20th century is in good condition, had undergone small restoration interventions that will allow it to be used for many more years.
