Rug Description

Antique Caucasian Kazak Rug. 1950-1970. An antique Caucasian carpet with a stylized and geometric design. The background of this Kazak carpet on a salmon pink base includes a series of octagonal medallions containing a star motif as in the Karabagh Celaberd carpets, and stylized leaves. The 5 medallions are surrounded by pronounced rosettes and small filling motifs on each end. The main midnight blue border is decorated with the motif of the toothed leaf and the calyx, while the smaller ones are decorated with bands of clouds. The state of conservation of this Caucasian Kazak carpet is excellent, the wools are soft, compact and bright.
