Antique Karabgh ( Qarabag) runner rug. 1900. A wonderful antique Karabagh carpet of rare “runner” format on a blackish background. A true identification with the meaning of the word Karabagh itself, literally “the black garden”. In this fascinating carpet runner, we find ourselves in front of a real garden in which floral motifs surround graceful harshang and karagasly motifs. The colors that make up the background range from pale pink to salmon pink, from sage green to mustard color, from “aubergine” color to hazelnut color, up to a hint of blue: a real dance of shades and contrasts. The design of this ancient Karabag carpet develops across the board, contained in a modular border on a pale pink background. The state of conservation of this antique Karabagh carpet is excellent, carefully kept in the Mollaian Rugs collection
