An Antique Persian Bakshaish Runner, 1900 ca. Runner carpets, made in the Bakhshaish area are quite rare. In this rare antique Bkahshaish carpet, we can appreciate the varied decorative repertoire and the great technical skill in managing the proportions, the accurate chromatic and graphic effect. In this ancient Bakhshaish, we can join the composure of the modular design of the seven medallions in an intense brick red color that follow one another on the background. The borders with multicolored tiles arranged in an oblique direction are very interesting, which we often find both in Persian Afshar carpets and in antique Azeri and Armenian carpets. The graphics of this ancient Bakhshaish carpet, although modular, are very complex and well organized over the entire surface; the alternation of colors combined with the variety of decorations make this antique Bakhshaish carpet truly warm and bright. Although this carpet is defined as a runner, its setting is not to be relegated only to corridors, but also as a dividing element within the same environment with other furnishings and carpets. Its state of conservation is excellent.
