Antique Persian Bakshaish Runner Rug, ca 1900-1920. A stunning antique Bakhshaish carpet runner. The shades of this Bakhshaish carpet are very warm and delicate, and the design, which develops modularly, is well proportioned and arranged across the entire field. Traditional motifs belonging to the entire textile culture of Azerbaijan and Iran are well represented on the external border with a stylized herati motif, anticipating and succeeding the central one, on a sand-coloured background, with the serrated leaf and calyx motif. The visual effect of this antique Bakhshaish carpet is very delicate, the shades are very well balanced and all the elements are harmoniously arranged together, both in terms of contrasts and in terms of proportions. The background of this antique Bakhshaish carpet is dominated by small polygonal medallions, surrounded by serrated leaves arranged obliquely to form small rhombuses. The state of conservation is excellent. This antique Bakhshaish carpet can coexist with any type of furniture, favoring wooden surfaces on which it can be placed.
