Rug Description

This is an antique Bakhtiari carpet woven during the beginning of the 20th century circa 1900 and measures 367 x 207 CM in size. this is an extremely unique and historical peace that was specially ordered for one of the tribal leaders and this can be proved by the inscriptions located at the top of the road which states “Ordered by Mr. Mohammad Javad Khan Damah Eghbal, Produced by Baktiari”. This special piece has what is known as a vase design that takes inspiration from early Safavid court rugs. the field is made up of large scale palmettes interconnected with a vine design and on the center axis, there are two vases one located at the center and one towards the top of the piece set on a beige background color. The border is made up of split arabesque motifs interconnected within each other set on a red background color. This piece has been preserved in overall great condition and is ready to be used or added to any collection.
