Antique Persian Bidjar (Bijar) Carpet, 19th century. Very rare antique Persian Bijar carpet on a golden yellow background dominated by an important and well-proportioned central medallion on a midnight blue background with a scalar profile. The central medallion, adorned with minute herati motifs, is embellished with two light blue pendants containing a refined palmette. The counter-edges and corners of the background of this magnificent antique Persian Bijar are also filled with a very dense and defined herati motif; the counter-edges and the corners also follow the same pattern as the staggered profile medallion. The main border, on a warm brick background, is embellished with the herati “turtle” motif in a very balanced and well-proportioned play of colours. This rare antique Persian Bijar carpet is in an excellent state of conservation, ready to be adapted into an exclusive environment where the focal point is defined by this magnificent masterpiece.
