Rug Description

Antique Persian Bijar (Bidjar) Rug, ca 1880-1900. An antique Persian Bijar carpet. A medium-sized carpet with a very strong character, it fully embodies the decidedly more traditional style of Kurdish-Persian manufacturing. The midnight blue background is dominated by an imposing central oblong medallion, surrounded by small twigs and flowers as if to protect its delicacy on an ivory background where the traditional motifs stand out with more rigid and geometric lines, well spaced from each other. Thanks to the delicate color combinations, the medallion of this ancient Persian Bijar carpet exerts an immediate magnetism, illuminating the surrounding scene of the background, highlighting contrasts, designs and colours. The corners, very decisive and imposing, are softened by warm pastel shades offering a relaxing effect to the gaze. The main edge on a brick background is adorned with traditional motifs, combining more rigid lines with more rounded motifs. The use of colors is very sophisticated, especially the shades of green, which are truly exquisitely combined with the other tones. This antique Persian Bijar carpet is in excellent condition, ready to be placed without any fear, robust and resistant, it can withstand daily trampling and can also be placed in an entrance.
