Rug Description
This is a Shekarlu rug woven by the Qashqai tribe located in Southwest Persia and it was woven circa 1880. Shekarlu rugs are one of the most sought-after tribal rugs due to the use of truly nomadic designs and motifs. The field has an allover design that makes use of motifs that are only seen in rugs woven by the Sherkarlu sub-group of the Qashqai tribe. The ivory main border of this rug creates color contrast against the dark blue field color. This rug is in overall good condition and it has its original finishing of three rows with a checkered board design.
It has an all-wool foundation with 100% wool pile and has all-natural vegetable dyes. This rug has been professionally cleaned and is ready to be added to any collection or used in any setting.
