Rug Description

An unusual antique Heriz carpet, North-West Persia.
Size, approx: 713cm. x 455cm.
The light beige field with various multicoloured palmettes, rosettes, serrated leafs and floral tendrils around central abrashed dark blue arabesque and floral medallion with pendants. Spandrels similar. In abrashed Indio border of bold polychrome turtle-palmettes, rosettes and floral vine between abashed ice-blue floral meander, reciprocal and plain stripes. Very nicely drawn design, seldom found with Thor type. Great colours. This carpet has very good pile, soft wool quality. Selvages rebound, well done. Ends with short fringes, secured. Superb furnishing piece. Very attractive and elegant piece.
