Rug Description

An antique large Heriz carpet, North-West Persia
Size, approx: 585cm. x 350cm.
The pale rust field with angular vine issuing various angular and hooked floral motifs together with serrated palmettes around large indigo and terracotta double medallion with pendants containing similar design.
Wide blue floral spandrels. In and indigo border of polychrome hooked palmettes, leaves and angular floral tendrils between double flowering one and plain outer stripe. Very good colour combination with well drawn design. This carpet has slight localised wear to the top pile, barely visible. Otherwise good pile, soft wool quality. Selvages original. Ends with short fringes, secured. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition. Very good furnishing item. Attractive.
