All-over Antique Persian Kashan Kurk Over-size Carpet, 1900-1920 ca. A wonderful carpet made entirely by hand in the city of Kashan, a famous city in present-day Iran, particularly important in the creation of high quality and valuable carpets. In this antique Kashan carpet, the floral design develops across the entire field, all over, where small and delicate flower branches with a curvilinear shape echo the “aslimi” motif present in many Persian carpets. The small “ramages”, placed on an ivory background, are particularly detailed and elegantly arranged on the surface of the carpet, embellished with floral motifs connecting one branch to another. The quality of the Manchester wool gives brightness and refined contrasts, highlighting the very high quality of this very elegant Persian Kashan carpet. The border, on a midnight blue background, decorated with floral and palmette motifs, gives further balance and grace to the entire carpet.
