The classic central medallion design is punctuated by the alternation of tones between the backgrounds and further emphasized by the midnight blue border enlivened by the pink tones of the flowers. In this extraordinary Kashan Mohtasham carpet, we can also come across hunting scenes where the lion bites the antelope, almost creating a rather singular stylistic “break” element for a carpet in perfect classic style. The colours, shades and decorative compositions are stunning, thanks to the excellent quality of the wool, soft, compact and silky. The state of conservation of this antique Kashan Mohtashem carpet is excellent.
