Rug Description

Antique Persian Nain Tudeshk Rug, 1920 ca. Very rare semi-antique Nain Tudeshk Persian carpet on a red background. Nain rugs, in the collective imagination, shows a natural wool colored background and if we came across a rug like this, in the Mollaian Rugs collection, we would probably not be able to recognize it as Nain Tudeshk, a real jewel knotted entirely by hand. The compositional structure of this Nain tudeshk carpet evolves into a central medallion setting. The peculiarity of this Nain Tudeshk carpet is the shape of the medallion in full Safavid style, as we can also admire in the decorations of many Persian monuments and mosques. The design is surprisingly rich in details that seem to be almost suspended on the blue background of the medallion. The background of this Nain Tudeshk carpet is embellished with floral motifs which follow one another in chromatic virtuosities of notable stylistic refinement. The warm and delicate filling colours, in particular the ash blue colour, lighten the scenic presence of the designs, leaving visual space for the pendants, rosettes and cartouches, punctuating the decorative composition with composure and elegance. The border of this semi-antique Nain Tudeshk carpet, on a midnight blue background, as well as the counter-edges, divinely set and enhance the background, giving us a truly balanced overall effect. The state of conservation of this Nain Tudeshk carpet is perfect.
