Rug Description

A very unusual antique Senneh carpet of Serapi design, West Persia
Size, approx: 392cm. x 270cm.
The soft rust-red field with angular floral and left vine around deep-indigo and light beige double floral medallion with palmette pendants. Deep-indigo wide spandrels with densely woven stylised small palmette lattice. In deep-indigo border of similar design between flowering vine and plain stripes. Great design and very good colour combination, bold appearance. Very unusual design for this type more associated with North-west Persian weaving. This carpet has slight wear to the top pile, down to knot collar in small places, otherwise good pile, soft wool quality. Selvages original. Ends with short fringes, secured. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition. Very attractive and great furnishing piece.
