Rug Description

An antique Ushak carpet, Turkey
Size, approx: 455cm. x 308cm.
The soft red field with classic Smyrna design with rows of bold hooked palmettes divided by open hooked lozenge medallions. Inner similar half hooked frame. In soft red border of polychrome bold palmettes, angular floral tendrils and small rosettes between indigo angular floral vine, reciprocal and plain stripes.
This carpet has good thick pile. Typical colours for this type, well blended. Selvages original. Ends with short fringes, secured. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition. Big strong design. Bold appearance.
