Rug Description

A fine antique silk Keyseri carpet, Turkey
Size, approx: 466cm. x 365cm.
The shaded rust-red field with stylised flowering trees, various animals, birds and animal combat groups. Central ivory round medallion with similar motifs, shaped by two large snakes. Ivory spandrels with trees and animals. In an ivory border with repetition of the same design between floral and angular vine wide stripes.
Very good type with unusual and very well drawn design. Very good colour combination. This carpet has localised wear to the pile, down to knot collar and below. Selvages original. Ends with short fringes, secured. Despite imperfections this carpet is in good usable condition. Rare and very interesting design. Very attractive and great furnishing piece.
