Old Extra Fine Turkish Hereke Silk & Metal (Ebrei Design) Pictorial Rug,1950-1970. A magnificent and very fine silk carpet with a religious subject. Starting from the external edges, small rosettes follow one another in high relief on the flatweave “souf” framing Hebrew inscriptions. In this very particular carpet, the history of the Jewish people is represented during its most significant phases as explained in the Torah, the sacred book of the Jews also known as the Old Testament. The border is a pure demonstration of the care and skill of the weaver who, respecting the theme, chiseled with extreme accuracy and precision the entire “cloud collar” surrounded by extremely detailed floral motifs.
