Textile Description
This is a semi-antique Egyptian kilim woven during the second quarter of the 20th century circa 1940’s and measures 248 x 88CM in size. This piece features 4 columns of enclosed scriptures most likely from the Quran all set on a red background color. Located above and below the scriptures are split arabesque motifs set on a beige background color. Enclosed in compartments above and below the scriptures are located eight-pointed medallions geometrically drawn which adds to the design element of this highly religious piece. This textile has been preserved in excellent condition which shows that it was a highly valued and respected textile and adds to its rarity and collectability.
