This is a silk and metal thread Chinese rug woven during the end of the 19th century. These silk and metal threaded rug with the name of a temple at the top of them were woven for the temples in the forbidden city. They are highly collectible and are a piece of Chinese history and culture. This example has the nine dragon design with the traditional cloud border and has remained in perfect full pile condition.
